Jason DeValadares

Hey, Jason here.

Thanks for checkin' out the site. This isn't something that I'm really working hard on. I'm just throwin' up some of the pix I've taken... well ones that I like at least. I hope you like 'em too.

I grew up in Gravenhurst Ontario. It's a small town north of Toronto. There wasn't a lot to do there, it wasn't really a 'kid friendly' town. I guess that kinda goes for most small towns though. I've never really got into photography to the point where that's all I really wanted to do, but I do love doing it. I started when I was around 18/19 years old and just kinda played with the camera. I took a course through the New York Institute of Photography but had a hard time with money so I couldn't really finish it. I'd love to give it another try some day.

Basic Gear:

  • Digital Canon Rebel XT
  • Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm
  • Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm
  • Velbon CX-540 Tropod

I shoot in RAW and JPG. JPG for the quick post on fourms and junk like that, RAW for images that I want to take my time on and really tweak the best that I can. To be honest, I really only do it so that I don't have compression issues when working with JPG. I shoot really weird. I like to take a few pictures, grab 'em on the latptop and start tweaking a bit before I continue shooting. Obviously not able to do this when I'm out somewhere. I do this because I find the background changes when you start manipulating and this usually tweaks better poses or frame positions. Most of the time this is the case with white/gray backgrounds.... which I try to almost always shoot against.
